Céline’s new summer tote is as unsurprisingly fabulous as it is surprisingly impractical. On second thought, maybe its high level of impracticality isn’t so shocking; Céline bags are not exactly known for their functionality.
Just another bucket bag? Not so fast. A basic black tote? It’s not that simple! Marni presents a wise variation on the bucket style that we’ve been seeing so much of lately, yet again. Balenciaga just got serious. The words that come to mind upon first impression of this top-handle tote? Incredible. Beautiful. Classic. Decadent. This is, of course, Balenciaga’s big answer to the Birkin, but knockoff or tawdry imitation it isn’t. Thanks to their signature tube-shaped hardware, it’s merely a dutiful nod to the holy grail of bags, one that shows nothing but respect.
Some collaborations are nothing but a natural fit. Smythson’s latest Panama Collection marks the second capsule partnership between the leather company and artist Quentin Jones. Best of all, I love Smythson and their clean, simple shapes readily lend themselves to artistic embellishment.
