Unless you live in a warmer climate like Cali, you spend a nice chunk of the year unable to wear sandals, espadrilles, and other summer shoes. Now that the season is finally upon us, have fun with it! Playful beach ball prints, cork wedges…these are the types of pieces you want to indulge in. I’ve sorted all my favorite essentials into categories, a nice reminder of how to budget to get what we really need – and want!
MATCHESFASHION.COM has just launched a summer capsule collection with one of my longtime favorite shoe brands – Robert Clergerie. The comfort level is epic, and with the Parisian label currently under the creative direction of Roland Mouret, I’ve only been loving it more!
This is the most exquisite line of shoes I’ve seen in a long time. Maison des Talons designer Susanne Villiger’s awe-inspiring accents are like nothing you’ve seen before. I borrowed the Swarovski-encrusted Les Tinettes for Fashion Week (the only time I’m grateful to be a runway sample size 10!) and wore them to the Socialyte Blogger Awards.
With fashion, you really do need a playbook, and for the fall season, mine always includes gorgeous metallics. Obviously it’s not a look you can wear head to toe (you don’t want to walk around looking like a suit of armor!). That’s the beauty of it, though – a little sparkle goes a long way. And don’t reserve metallics solely for evening events…
The line between graphic blacks and whites gets a little murkier as we strut our way into fall. While a pair of dark booties is a must this season, there’s no reason to go with anything too basic. A spattering of geometric cutouts will elevate the look from blah to bombshell in a matter of inches…
At first glance, the spell checker in me was irritated by “decodent,” only to realize it was a play on Art Deco. Clever. The glimmering heels were inspired by golden era movie theaters like the Pantages (I have season tickets and still I spend as much time marveling at the ceiling as I do the stage!).
