Let’s start off the New Year right by taking a look at the trends that are going to take over the upcoming months. All things fun and fabulous are definitely in store. A feeling of exuberance and optimism can be seen everywhere, which makes me happy. I can already tell this is going to be a stellar year for fashion – and for life! to be a stellar year for fashion – and for life!
It’s that time of year when we have feasting and drinking on the brain (much to our New Year’s resolution-fueled January 1st selves’ chagrin). Why not playfully put this on display with our accessories? When everything is lit up brightly enough to hail a spaceship, your usual boxy, black tote seems tired. Wire up with a tasty treat! And while these kitschy bags may seem frivolous, some are actually more practical than expected – making the holiday hangover just a little less painful.
The shape we are obsessing over right now is the rectangular box. It’s actually one of the most classic shapes, but we go in phases when we gravitate towards a particular silhouette (from the slouchy hobo to the structured tote or bucket) and right now, the rectangle is where we’re headed.
We all want a flat pooch (read: no pooch at all, thanks!), but that’s not always possible, sadly. What we can rely on, though, is knowing that the flat pouch is not going anywhere, at least not any time soon, if ever.
The festive mood is upon us and when you say party, I automatically think glitter! But actual glitter is impossibly messy, and sequins can get old fast…
If you feel like you’re being boxed in, you may be right. The current feel of bags is definitely going the way of a perfectly cubed shape. A boxy design, especially in the form of a shoulder bag, is great because it’s not an actual hard box, so it’s way more versatile for everyday.
