Sleek, clean, and created for instant organization: Consider Maiyet’s Amonet bag your new little helper. We’re seeing a lot of these über-compartmentalized bags lately, as if it’s almost a new trend, and I’m loving it. It’s like designers are finally getting the fact that function is just as important as the way things look.
Fringe bags are having a moment, but that’s too much of a commitment for me (not to mention, they’re rarely done well). I prefer to approach the look from a different angle – through jewelry!
I went to see the new musical Harmony last week, and fell in love with one of the character’s capes – a velvet capelet with long straps that went under the arms and tied in the back. Some costumes can only be pulled off on a stage, but these are pieces you can integrate naturally in everyday life, whether you’re on the beach, playing in the rain, or out on a Friday night!
Bold lattice designs usually make me think of 1970s Palm Springs décor, a little tacky and over-the-top. But my new obsession with interior designer Tom Scheerer has me changing my tune.
Right off the bat, there is no denying this is essentially Maiyet’s take on a Kelly bag. Luckily, Maiyet has both a vision and attitude that’s all their own, preventing the Piatta from having the feel of a knockoff imitation. Instead, it’s a modern take on the Kelly, imbued with a refreshingly young attitude. The result: entirely new appeal.
