Are you planning your ultimate summer vacation? Then you will need to have the coolest luggage around. I LOVE this line from Conran!! How amazingly fabulous are these cream and black leather strap trunks? Sure the LV and Goyard trunks are cool but who is going to lug those around for you? These have all the cool throwback look of steam ship trunks with the modern day convenience of wheels! Always use technology when it is there, right? The Globe-Trotter luggage have been around since 1897 and are handmade of Vulcan Fiber, ash wood frame, with a really beautiful Prussian blue cotton lining and leather trimming. I feel like hopping on a plane right now and going on some exotic river boat expedition. I’ll need a white head scarf and white linen dress with big sunglasses to totally look the part. And of course, a forbidden lover! Available in Conran Shops in New York, London, Paris and Japan or Conran Online, 21″ Trolley for $1740 and 18″ Trolley is $1570.
Bagsnob,
Thanks for introducing this line of luggage! They look so beautiful! And much more reasonable than a $4K Alzer from Vuitton!
I agree! So glad you showed me this!
My DH works for Delta Airlines & this is the bag I have been needing for our frequent trips!
Is this size okay as a carry on–especially with the new smaller size regulations? I would hate to check this georgous luggage as it is white and you just know it would get beat up.
The luggages look strong and good, what do people have to say about Leather Luggage , a loy of my colleagues have shifted to leather luggage and also recommend leather products.
Globetrotter luggage is purely decorative. Unless you plan to have it placed in a private jet by a porter with white gloves, be prepared for it to break and leak. Times have changed since 1897.
I ordered two large cases directly from the London store: one for myself and one as a gift. The case I purchased as a gift split in half the first time it was used. When I called the store in London to see about a replacement, the person I spoke with was rude and refused to take any responsibility. In the unlikely event that a Louis Vuitton bag split the first time it was used, I would have received an apology and a new case.
While I travel quite frequently for business and pleasure, I rarely use my case because I do not trust it. The last time I used it, I opened it in my hotel and found that water had leaked in and there was a glue-type substance all over my clothing.
Well I have been using a set for a handful of years and they have worn well and are even more delicious with age. They have survived monsoon rains in India, dust storms in the Sahara, and a ride on roof of a truck through the Khyber. Popping into the shop I have never had rude treatment, in fact the opposite. While my case has not yet needed repair, upon asking the clerk, repair did not present to be an issue. True they are not water tight, but most bags are not, and these are not sieves. Light as a feather and strong enough to sit on during interminable delays, I can think of no other luggage.
