A few months ago Tom Ford gave a talk at the 92Y with Fern Mallis, it was there that he revealed that he would be launching a new men’s fragrance in the fall (it has been seven years since he launched his first!). He said it was his favorite and most personal to date…needless to say I was dying with excitement. White Suede, Jasmin Rouge, Pure Musk…I have yet to smell one of his fragrances that I don’t love (even further…most I love enough to want to wear and given how many fragrances he has, that’s pretty remarkable). Finally, on Fashion’s Night Out, I was able to preview the scent, Noir, launching next month. Already for sale in Tom Ford boutiques it’s not as aggressive as I expected it to be. In fact it’s something I could see women easily wearing – at least women like myself who count the likes of White Suede as their favorite scent.
It’s a spicy woody oriental and like all of Ford’s scents it’s a multifaceted one that develops over time. Because of notes like bergamot, pink pepper, nutmeg, amber, vetiver, caraway, and vanilla it’s seductive and warm making it great for fall/winter…or you know anytime you want to give off an alluring odor..male or female! The bottle is simple sophistication and 100% Ford. It actually looks very much like the designer’s boutique shopping bags.
