Glistening, abstract stripes of gunmetal, steel blue, and cool gold beadwork on pristine black silk: this gorgeous piece is just what the season calls for. So gorgeous, in fact, that I’m inclined to say it doesn’t even matter which season we’re talking about. Sparkly, embellished clutches are nothing new, to say the least, but Maiyet has taken the ubiquitous motif to the next level and then some. Their dazzling light show of multi-textured beads that trickle down amounts to an absolute visual spectacle that mesmerizes and transfixes.
This is organized chaos in the best sense of the term, and Maiyet was wise to hold back on the rest of the clutch. Anything but plain black satin in a classic foldover style would be too much and worse yet, detract from the shimmering focal point. Needless to say, this isn’t the kind of bag you want to take out and risk trashing. Even though it’s an impressive piece to behold, it’s also timeless. This is something you’ll always be able to take out for special occasions, especially come holiday time. Or not-so-special occasion you feel needs to be made special. Maiyet clutch at Barneys New York for $895.
Pair with: A trio of three oxidized and rose gold-tone rings will complement the beadwork without competing with it, and Bottega Veneta’s rustic yet refined aesthetic is the right one for the job. On NET-A-PORTER for $980.
This bag is absolutely stunning… Just gorgeous… x
