When it comes desirable design, Burberry Prorsum has an uncanny way of achieving a big-time hit…or an even bigger miss. That’s not to say that I think the Milverton tote, a contrasting combination of extra-nubby fuchsia shearling that resembles a plush, cushy rug you might find at your great aunt’s wall-to-wall carpeted house and clean, smooth burgundy leather, is necessarily one or even the other.
I’m one for comfort when you actually get the benefit of it. As in, not on the top of a bag. But there’s something about this offbeat, purposefully clashing color combo that works, as does the mini size, and it’s those elements that keep this bag from looking tragic. Details like a covered lock and key and feet on the bottom show, well, an attention to detail (and there should be for a bag that runs two grand). But home run this is not, and major points for the girl who pulls this awkward accessory off with aplomb. It can be done, but I’m not saying it will be easy!
