I prefer this smaller version of the Edith, it’s really cute and not as school girlish. I know many of you wondered why the Edith did not make it on our Best of list and here is the reason: we had a problem with the stitching; it was not the kind of quality we demand and expect. It seemed loose and would fall apart, although we haven’t had any problems with it actually falling apart, but then again, I hardly used the bag. I find it stiff and hard to carry. It’s one of those “good from far but far from good” kind of things. The small version has the same stitching so it is still questionable but I really love this in white with the tan contrast! At Neiman Marcus for $1105.
You know I DO like Chloe’s ranges of bags. I’ve been tempted to buy one on many occasion, but have always found myself wondering if they really had what it took to be worthwhile. To be more than just a bag of the moment. Although I suppose that can be said about any It bag. Do It bags have what it takes to be an enduring classic?? Brook, London
Brook,
Nice to have another Londoner posting here – did you see the Vogue article by any chance about fashion blogs? Anyway – I think Chloe bags will be timeless classics and will be, particularly in the UK, talked about in future generations to come. With the creme de la creme of UK celebs and celebutantes using Chloe bags, its fair to say that when people look back at this epoque, they’ll see the likes of Knightley etc with one. Also, who cares if it’s a bag of the moment, if it makes you feel amazing when you’ve got in on your person, then go for it – make it yours to own.

Funny you should mention the stitching on the large Chloe Edith. I saw one in Saks recently and thought the stitching was waaay too obvious, too large, too visible. It made the bag look like a knock-off. Everything else about the bag was lovely, but the stitching blew it for me. This smaller version looks cute. I might give it a look if I’m back in Saks anytime soon.
I have the Paddington and for the longest time considered the Edith (medium) as well. Somehow, like Brook, I just could not take the plunge. I adore the shape (and the wondeful whiskey colour) but am rather put off by the enormous stitching too. Moreover, I found it hard to put it to good use (kind of stiff for weekends and not exactly classy enough for work with all the stitches screaming).
Il est vraiment magnifique, ce sac en petite version. J’ai le très grand, et ma foi, j’adore les grands sacs. Mais celui-là est vraiment très grand. Alors le petit me plait beaucoup, et en blanc. Marie-Belgique
Hi Robin!
Yes, I did read that Vogue article! That’s where I found out about this blog. Have you picked up the latest issue with Jessica Stam on the cover?? She looks incredible, and there is a great Top Shop supplement that comes with the magazine as well. You do have a point. Fashion IS all about wearing and carrying what makes you feel amazing and special, and shouldn’t always be about what the latest trend dictates. Brook , London
I really love this bag….and I do agree that what you carry is about your personal style. I just bought a medium edith in whiskey on ebay. Any tips on telling if it’s a fake? It is a very good one if it is a fake, but I hope not! Any advice?
