Punk-inspired fashion was all over the runway this season – even Chanel had some embroidered holes, unfinished ends, and distressed fabrics! The two brands that translated this trend most distinctly into their hair looks however were Giambattista Valli and Balenciaga. At Valli, hairstylist extraordinaire Orlando Pita gave three platinum blonde models pink dye streaks to complement their spiked hairstyle (the other models had brushed-back ponytails with hair darkened on the underside), while at Balenciaga some of the models had their hair cut short, spiked, and then bleached platinum blonde by Redken’s Guido Palau.
I could never fathom chopping off my hair, but it’s nice to see an alternative to the long, perfectly straight or long and perfectly tousled hair we usually see on the runway. What do you think about this punky hair look?
