There are plenty of dry shampoos out there that work pretty well. This is not one of them. I got the travel size in a goodie bag at an event and I was super excited because it is small and not in an aerosol can so I can take it on the plane. Well, the excited died down quickly after I sprinkled it on my hair only to look like Pig Pen with a cloud of white dust around my head. It is white powder that you squeeze out of the bottle directly onto the hair so it stays white and powdery. I have black hair so I put tested it on my new blond intern. She hates me now, her exact words, “I feel like an old lady who just came out of the salon”. It left her hair looking gray!! Well, just the roots, which is kinda worse. It also makes a huge mess during the application. I think dirty hair is a much better choice. That’s what ponytail days are for. At Sephora for $11.00 for the 1 oz. bottle.
I have to disagree, I also have black hair and this is my favorite dry shampoo. The trick might be that you have to “rub” it in. I love the smell and I think it makes my hair look fresher.

I have dark hair as well and have used it. I loved it! Previous posters are right, you have to massage it into your hair and it shouldn’t leave any residue. Just saw that Oscar came out with an invisible dry shampoo spray too, so may want to give that one a try!
i totally agree! i much prefer cake beauty’s dry hair shampoo for darker shades. it looks like cocoa powder and smells like cinnamon : )
I disagree too, I’ve tried many and this is by far the best for my blonde hair, I use it every other day. It does go on white, you have to massage it in and then brush and just use a little water if there’s any whiteness remaining in your part or hairline. It’s worth it for how fresh and clean your hair will stay for another 24 hrs with this product. Try it again with a light hand 🙂
I completely agree with you! I purchased this product after reading glowing reviews, but I found that even when I strictly adhered to the instructions on the back of the bottle, I still had white patches on my scalp and greasy looking hair. I do like the scent, but I think I will be going back to a spray as soon as I run out of this.
I have a oily hair and say that this stuff works extremely well to control grease and keep my hair looking bouncy. And i really like the smell of it.
Perhaps you didn’t put it on right? I guess you should rub it in a bit more to avoid it from getting patchy. Anyway, whatever shampoo that makes you feel and look great is what really matters. 🙂
