No flashy metal. No multi-zippers. No fringes hanging here and there. For Alexander Wang Spring 2011, laces were about as ornamental as it got when it came to his shoes. Much like the garments they complemented banished were any sightings of black. Instead, you had such warm hues as chalk, terra-cotta, ginger and eggshell across a series of varying heights–be it the “Aaron” low thong platform lace-up boot or the “Iman” high leather open sandal. Taking a closer look backstage, I will admit that, while beautiful, they definitely take a certain kind of woman to pull off. These are not suited for all. The “Tempest” high knotted sandal is perhaps the most wearable across the board for Wang’s clientele; it’s a simplistic shoe that will look good for day or night. Rounding out the collection are the “Dakota” high nubuck lace-up boot and the “Jaquetta” ankle boot–both guaranteed to, once again, have the girls swooning.
