The most common question I get asked when people find out what I do is: “So, what’s the hot bag right now?” Of course I could tell them to just read my blog, but instead of being snarky, I opt to be helpful and rattle off a list of current bags that are the most relevant. In honor of the “hot bag” question, here’s the kick-off of our monthly bags-of-the-moment list. You’ll see that some may stay the same, but as Tina and I take turns, the top five will shift and change over time.
1. Fendi By the Way Bauletto Large Shoulder Bag: You definitely have to go for the colorblocked version of this staple. Although I adore the mini, be practical and realistic and choose the medium or large size. You’ll be happy you did. At Barneys New York for $1,950.
2. Chloé Faye Small Leather Shoulder Bag: Its sister, the Drew is still a winner, and it’s not too late to get one, but when it comes to the latest and greatest Chloé, it’s the Faye all the way. At Barneys New York for $1,390.
3. Tom Ford Natalia Mini Textured-Leather Shoulder Bag: This heavy-metal baby bag is a bona fide celeb favorite. This smaller version is more dramatic, but if you prefer to shy away from drama, the larger option is actually more functional and proportionate. On NET-A-PORTER for $2,590.
4. The Row Hunting 9 Textured-Leather Shoulder Bag: While everyone knows the Olsens, The Row is the most discreet brand of this bunch. But that hasn’t stopped their beautifully simplified Hunting 9 bag from catching on. Jennifer Aniston is a fan. On NET-A-PORTER for $3,600.
5. Mansur Gavriel Large Tote: The big, wide-open tote is certainly the thing right now. Let it feel fun with printed options, but if you have to pick one, it’s Mansur Gavriel who can’t keep their solid ones in stock. At Barneys New York for $585.
