What a magnificently ingenious bag! I love it when Maison Martin Margiela shows the simpler side to their aesthetic and applies their kooky creativity to function with a real purpose. This partially open-top tote might trick you into thinking its details, like the deep-V cutout, are there for looks, but that’s not the case. The top of this bag has a wide tab that tucks cozily into the front pocket, and best of all, the tab itself has a built-in slide pocket.
The usefulness doesn’t end there. The back boasts a big compartment with an exposed zipper, giving this bag the accessibility of an open tote with the security of a fully closed one. It’s like Margiela just helped solve the biggest bag mystery in existence. To make matters even more organized, there’s an extra pocket along the backside. Carrying it by the top handle makes the mood prim and proper; then for bohemian weekends, you hook on the cool adjustable canvas strap, and the vibe (and comfort level) shifts. While it also comes in black, it’s all about dark, plummy red which reads so perfectly year-round. It’s not every day I call a bag super-crazy cool, but I can’t get enough of this one. I’m in love.
