Like many people, I’m a diet voyeur (I read the Grub Street diets religiously). I’m especially curious about what celebs eat (because they’ve got access to anything and everything) and wellness experts (for obvious reasons). Naturally, when I learned that Beyoncé launched a vegan meal delivery service, I was curious. The company is called 22 Days Nutrition, based on the belief that it takes 21 days to break a habit (FYI this has proven to be factually incorrect…but ummm I guess it’s Beyoncé’s world and we’re just living in it!). All the meals are 100% plant-based, as well as GMO, gluten, dairy, and soy-free. They’re also organic and delivered once a week. I’m not into cooking so I was considering trying it out; if it’s good enough for Beyoncé after all…Pretty extensive Googling however revealed that most people think the meals are bland and not particularly satisfying.
So, instead I opted to try some of 22’s nutrition bars. First up, the good: they’re high in fiber, high in protein, and not horrible when it comes to sugar (I stayed away from the chocolate varieties; my fave was Pumpkin Seed Protein). On the flip side, they are high in calories; the one I liked had 250 for 50 grams and they are SO STICKY I literally thought my teeth were going to get ripped out! My dental insurance sucks, I kept thinking…is this bar really worth the risk?! It’s also problematic if you accidentally leave these near a sunny window as they’ll become a melted, sticky mess; yup, I learned the hard way. As far as taste goes, though, I thought they tasted great, which can be good or bad depending whether or not you’re someone with self-control (not gonna lie, I’ve double dipped and had two before; 500 calories, not chump change).
Have you tried anything from 22 Days Nutrition?
