Jérôme Dreyfuss Anatole Bag: Get Into Shape

Jérôme Dreyfuss Anatole Bag

The Anatole marks the arrival of a great new shape from Jérôme Dreyfuss, who seems to just get better each season. Full of unique details without looking overcomplicated and casually versatile with enough intrigue to keep you interested, it’s a day bag you can carry to help shake up the week.

Taupe-gray leather is an ideal year-round neutral, so it’s a no-brainer. And although I’m not a fan of tie-dye, I’m showing it because this leather and suede version, with all its colorblocked contrast, really highlights the paneling and distinctive elements – which are what’s so great about this bag. I think it’s always more arresting to use stitching, trim, and purposeful paneling (as opposed to say, wild embellishments) to make a statement. The genius here is this: While it seems like there are a lot of elaborate pieces at play, from the geometric patchwork to the braided zipper-pulls, they all add up to a pleasing, congruent shape, one that reflects the artistry of the designer. Available in gray, $1,005, on Farfetch and in tie-dye leather and suede, $1,085, at Jérôme Dreyfuss.

Wear with: A pair of sporty yet fashion-forward flats suits the relaxed vibe of the bag, and Alexander Wang puts a fresh spin on the espadrille with these zipper-topped “sneakers.” On My Theresa for $505.
