Father’s Day, Mother’s Day…or don’t wait! Beeline for Bergdorf Goodman if you can afford a small splurge because even the most jaded will have a hard time not getting excited to start playing with Tom Ford’s new launches. I still remember going to the launch of Tom Ford’s beauty line way back when he just had lipsticks. I’ve been to hundreds if not thousands of events, launches, and presentations over the years, but this one was unforgettable. Everyone was blown away by how gorgeous the packaging was, how fantastic the lipsticks smelled and tasted (who says that about lipstick??), and how wonderful the formulations felt. Now the designer has re-introduced his original white-and-gold lipstick packaging along with two new Lip Color Sheers and two new bronzer shades (each available in a large and more travel-friendly compact size). A cream blush (which is a brand first), four new cream and powder shadow duos, a lip and cheek compact, and a lightweight illuminating body oil (amazing scent…I go bananas for anything that Ford does with amber and sandalwood notes…so sexy).
The shadows are all metallic and the powder ones are notably high in sparkles. The Gunmetal is a standout as it will make for a great year-round smokey eye go-to. I’m not a big fan of lipsticks, but if you’re gonna wear one, these are the ones to go with because they’re so moisturizing and lightweight, they basically feel like tinted balm (even the saturated shades). It’s also worth stating again that pretty much every guy I’ve ever dated has hated when I wear lipstick; this is the one exception. Since it tastes great, it will actually work in your favor.
For men Ford has launched Tom Ford Noir Extreme – and you know it’s good because Ford is the face of the campaign. It’s sexy, of course – a woody oriental scent, so think amber and sandalwood notes – but it’s also a little bit sweet with hints of citruses and subtle florals. I have a feeling this will be a James Bond favorite once again…
