Lots of traveling, a hectic schedule, and a mother who does a lot of cooking and lives across the street has pretty much made me give up on using my Vitamix these last few months. That all changed however when my friend, currently a student at Columbia Business School, introduced me to Daily Harvest, which was started by one of her fellow classmates. The new site lets you order either five or 10 ready-to-blend, frozen, organic smoothie packs (i.e. they are ready to freeze or ready to use right away – either by blending in your blender with water, almond milk or any other liquid; alternatively you can eat the frozen mixes as they are! Seriously, cinnamon-covered frozen bananas and cocoa-covered frozen dates are amazing…). Each bag comes with pre-measured, pre-cut, and pre-washed ingredients, each designed for one smoothie. The smoothie blends change weekly depending on what’s in season. Again, these are very unique blends and they’re spiced up with things like cocoa, cinnamon, nuts, and seeds in addition to the fresh produce. My favorite so far is their pumpkin pie bag that comes with walnuts, sweet potatoes, bananas, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger and dates…so, so good! Plus at $6.50, these are actually cheaper than local juice shops.
