The Best DIY Baking Kits (Including One for Homemade Doggie Treats!)

I love hosting people at my apartment. My thing is having themed food parties. I’ve done Momofuku, Pure Food and Wine (i.e. raw vegan theme), and most recently Jew food-themed. The problem is while I love to host, I don’t love to cook. I end up buying most of the food pre-made, but the problem with that is that there’s little room for personal touches, which is why I try to add in at least one semi-homemade treat. Basically I buy a DIY kit that comes with pretty much everything I need pre-measured out so I don’t need to do much work, but still can have creative reigns. Of course it’s as important that everything actually tastes great so I make sure that when the kits come with all the ingredients, they’re all top-of-the-line. While this kit doesn’t come with ingredients, it does come with everything you need logistically to make these small delicacies. The brand makes similar sets for cupcakes, muffins, and other treats. 

Stonewall Kitchen Chocolate Doughnut Mix, $9.95 – this mix is available in a few flavor options; you can even go all out and get a whole doughnut kit. I’m pretty sure my next party is going to be doughnut themed…

Scratch & Grain Baking Co., $7.99 – I love these cookie mixes! I was recently  in London and stayed with my cousin. I brought two boxes with me and quickly made him two batches of fresh cookies! Well…more like 1 great batch and 1 kind of burned batch since I forgot about the whole Celsius versus Fahrenheit thing…

Fido’s Make Your Own Dog Cookie Mix with Cutter, $5.99 – Have a dog? Don’t let him/her feel left out! This is an awesome way to give your furry friend a custom treat or a great hostess gift if you’re on a budget. I love this for summer BBQs since people often bring their dogs with them.
