I always love Anndra Neen for a healthy dose of good fun, from her wire chokers to, of course, eye-catching clutches. We’re used to her slim, compact Cage style, the original of which has a vaguely complicated clasp and a fully revealing effect. This new one, in contrast, has a simpler shape, allowing for easier wear.
By switching the sides (which run the length of this petite bag) to solid, hammered metal, you still get the novelty-piece feel, but it keeps the bag from looking so specific you can only wear it once. Instead, you get the uncommon rustic-glam vibe of metal mesh, along with the unstudied convenience of a shoulder bag.
The instructions advise you to line it with a scarf to avoid a total peep show of your stuff, but I don’t see that working well unless you happen to be a DIY genius. I imagine the fabric would just slip and peek from the cage’s spaces. Either way, this light take on heavy metal is working. Anndra Neen Cage bag on NET-A-PORTER for $790.
Pair with: Contrast a see-through bag against a solid, knee-high boot of lush brown suede, like Saint Laurent’s very vintage-inspired Babies boots. On My Theresa for $1,495.
