Just because the summer is over doesn’t mean you can get lazy with your pedicures. In fact, this is the time to really take care of your feet, after the harsh beating they get over the summer (especially wearing flip flops; they’re torturous on the heels). I’ve been using the Glytone Ultra Heel and Elbow Cream – mostly on my feet – to great results. I apply 30 minutes before I shower, put on a pair of socks, and go about my business. I haven’t had a strong reaction to it, so even though it’s potent with 29.5% glycolic acid, I can have it on for quite some time without pain or injury. Then I get in the shower, use my Japanese foot file, and get to work.
But if you already have a pedicure scheduled, do what I do to save trouble, time and money. Put this on before you go to the nail salon, wear socks to keep the product on (don’t forget to bring flip flops!), and after that foot soak, you’ll get the best callus removal ever. Unless you’re going for the full gusto, 2-hour pedicure that’s $100, they never do a full and thorough job and by you doing most of the work for them already, they’ll be thankful and you’ll have beautiful feet. This product is meant to work on its own so after a few sessions of filing away the calluses, you can do easy maintenance by just applying the product and keeping it on for 20-30 minutes depending on what your skin can tolerate. You must remove it, though, so as tempting as it might be, don’t sleep with it on overnight. Same for the elbows and anywhere else you have rough, scaly skin. Definitely avoid the face! Available on Dermstore for $50.
