I love Kimberly Snyder. Her blog is one of my go-to reads and she was one of the first health pros to dish the benefits of raw-vegan diets, food combining and other similar health conscious things that today seem almost commonplace. Now she has launched supplements designed to reflect her beauty detox mission. The debut products are Probiotics+ and Detoxy+, both of which are certified vegan, soy-free, dairy-free, and gluten-free. Probiotics+ is meant to be taken every morning to help support a healthy gut. Snyder says it’s important that a probiotic supplement be taken because most of the food we eat these days is pasteurized or covered in so many pesticides that many of the probiotic strains our bodies crave have been removed. I didn’t try the Probiotic, but I did try Detoxy+, which unlike the probiotic is meant to be taken on an as needed basis to help cleanse the digestive system and help with elimination.
I usually eat very healthfully so I don’t really have problems with my digestion, but these last three weeks have been particularly indulgent so I’ve been feeling clogged up – bad not only because it makes me feel bloaty and heavy, but it means my gut is not properly absorbing nutrients. Detoxy+ is meant to help move things along without harming any of your gut’s bacteria. One ‘serving’ is three capsules, for two days straight I took just two capsules and well…let’s just say they worked – and fast. I took them on an empty stomach in the late afternoon and both days a few hours later there was a point where I thought if I don’t find a restroom in 10 seconds there may be an unfortunate accident. I would definitely say you want to take these when you know you won’t be in public for the next 8-10 hours when you’re trying them for the first time so you know how your body will react. I also will stress this won’t be a non-stop running to the toilet kind of thing. Both times I used Detoxy+ it was just one “urgent” incident that occurred. If you’re looking to kickstart a healthy diet or feeling clogged up, I would highly suggest giving these a go.
