Dolce & Gabbana has gotten into the skincare game going off of their successful foray into makeup and the results are fantastic. It all starts with the completely on-brand packaging – a mix of gold and white that’s at once luxe and sophisticated while being completely eye-catching (remember their leopard compact?!). There’s something so great about reaching for a truly beautiful face cream in the morning when you’re tired and grumpy and all you want to do is vegetate in bed eating cookies…I’ve only tried the brand’s face cream so far but if its smooth texture is any indication the other products – which include everything from serum and eye cream to masks and makeup remover (13 in total) – are on the money. At the heart of the line is a naturally derived complex called Gold Flavo-Silk Tricomplex, which is what’s delivering the hydration and anti-aging benefits. They’ve also got Italian (of course!) olive oil and vitamin B3 for added moisture in the skincare formulations. It should be noted that the line was developed in partnership with P&G Prestige meaning they had a tremendous amount of resources to make this line as fashionable as it is functional. I’ve been layering the cream over my Proactiv+ at night (meaning I’m layering THREE products – I swear by Proactiv+ for keeping my skin clear even when I’m sweating at the gym and don’t wash my face right away), and yet they are all light enough that it feels like everything is being absorbed.
