I don’t believe in fad diets – no one ever got AND stayed in shape by eating only bananas, or cutting out all carbs or all fat or who knows what else. When I got a sample of a new granola launched by Dukan Diet, oat bran granola in apple cinnamon ($9.19), I didn’t have high hopes. I find that most products launched by diet brands are full of artificial ingredients and while they may take out one thing – fat for example – they’ll load up with something else like sugar or salt to compensate. This granola however is delicious and healthy! It’s actually not really a granola. It’s more like chunky clusters that I’ve been eating dry as a snack. The snack has no sugar, but it has a sweetness to it thanks to monk fruit and it’s incredibly high in fiber (43%). Further unlike most granola the calorie count isn’t too high. Dukan Diet is a high protein, low fat, low carb 4-phase diet – like I said I don’t follow diets I just try to eat as balanced and healthfully as possible, but that will definitely now include sprinkling in some of this new granola as a snack from time to time. In keeping with the premise of the Dunkan Diet, it’s also high in protein and low in carbs.
