I’m a born and raised New Yorker so of course I love black, but there are few things that give me as much anxiety as loosing my luggage and when your suitcase is just one black one in a sea of near identical ones, this is very no bueno! Luckily I’m now a Lipault Luggage convert (sorry Samsonite!). Their luggage is available in a bunch of colors if you’re looking for something bold that is sure to stand out, but you can get classic shades like black and gray that are similarly instantly recognizable. In fact when I was waiting to check-in to my flight back to NYC from Tokyo I spotted a couple a few people down from me and could tell even from afar that all their luggage was from the brand. The fabric has a unique shine to it that makes it stand out even in black. That’s just the beginning however, the biggest draw is really how incredibly light the bags are. My Samsonites always felt like they were packed with things even before I placed a single item in them.
Lipault also designs a number of their pieces to easily fold-up so there is no wasted space – key when traveling and staying in small hotel rooms or if you live in a small house/apartment. I just got back from a two-week trip that involved lots of trains and planes (I went to Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Hakone); I don’t think I could have made it stress-free were it not for the Lipault suitcase I brought with me…plus if you get one of the soft ones, they expand like crazy so there’s a ton of room for stocking up on, for example, copious amounts of Japanese sweets!
