I am tea obsessed. The fastest way for me to lose respect for a restaurant that considers itself top tier is if they give me a Twinings tea or something similar (in Tokyo I had the pleasure of dining at a steakhouse where said Twinings cost $14!). I approach tea the same way a sommelier approaches wine and I’ve developed a pretty discerning palette over the years. My go-to these last few months has been matcha, but I love Palais des Thes‘ selection when I’m looking for a different flavor profile. Better yet they just launched box sets that make for fantastic housewarming or hostess gifts.

* Les Fruités: includes fruity teas like Thé des Alizés, made with white peach and watermelon.
* Les Gourmands: includes teas such as the dessert-like Mélange du Cap, a Rooibos tea with cocoa nibs and vanilla pods.
Unlike ordinary sets however these come beautifully packaged in test-tube like viles! Seriously, time to forget about flowers and fruit baskets and give a gift people will remember! Each set retails for $29. On a side note Rooibos is great for your skin and some people maintain that it helps with weight loss – this one, which comes in the fruit-based gift set, is delicious and works well iced.
