I love a gel manicure as much as the next person but, at least for me, it’s not worth the arduous removal process nor is it worth the risk of nail damage (or worse skin cancer…) because of the UV lamp. Now Nails Inc. has launched a safe alternative with their Gel Effect Polishes. Albeit the polish won’t last as long as a traditional gel mani, but it did last a good week for me and when I decided it was time to renew my mani the polish came off super easily. In fact I was able to, for the most part, just peel off the color in the shower (the best excuse to stay in the shower longer!). The one weird thing about these polishes is that when you apply them they they feel and look chunky – kind of like an old polish that has been opened and closed too many times. I have no idea how, but despite the chunky feel by the time the polish dries, it’s completely smooth and glossy. Lastly, while I’ve found the polish to last longer, it also takes longer to dry. They have about 10 colors at the moment, which isn’t a ton, but the colors they do have are great. My fave so far is the versatile pink pictured above, which is called Downtown. Nails Inc.
