Tina and I have always said that you could wear a paper sack and still look chic with the right bag. What about carrying a paper bag, though? Well, the fact that it’s Lanvin certainly doesn’t hurt. Crinkled leather – especially of the metallic variety – has a deconstructed feel, yet this brushed chain strap ensures a sense of polished luxury.
This tote was carried down the Spring ’14 runway with the straps wrapped around the wrist and the bag twisted up in a bundle. I loved how the chains seemed to double as bracelets, but the truth is that styling would look too contrived in everyday life. This belongs as most totes do – over the shoulder. And since the metal top handles prevent you from throwing in many of your heftier items, it’s ultimately not practical enough for the price. Wait for a sale!
