Christian Louboutin is on a sleek, chic new kick, and no one is happier about his newly minimal (it’s all relative, right?) aesthetic than I am. This clutch delivers an undeniably basic design, especially for Louboutin who has a love for bells and whistles and fanciful details, but I am welcoming pared-down bags that keep function in mind more than ever. And this time, the designer is applying his creative talents to details that count.
Like the subtle hardware on the flap: clean, sharp, and elegant, there’s nothing unnecessary about it. And like the prints: you don’t see calf hair in catty animal prints on the regular. The tiger pattern is abstract, lean, and modernized, and even Louboutin’s leopard print showcases spots that go beyond the usual; a strong showing of white gives it a lightness that makes it better-suited for daytime.
With a size like this, day is when you’ll really want to use it anyway. This is a giant bag, so it’s not the best to use as a clutch and works better as a shoulder bag (I even like the skinny, skimpy strap in this case). I find it so hard to manage balancing a large bag as a clutch, but, of course, it’s still nice to have the option. Available for pre-order on Neiman Marcus for $1,350 each (expect delivery by October 29th).
