Don’t get me wrong – sulfur and salicylic acid are miracle workers for treating acne, as is glycolic acid since exfoliating is key to preventing breakouts. But nothing has proven as effective as benzoyl peroxide when it comes to treating my own breakouts. Benzoyl peroxide is one of the key ingredients in Proactiv, which I’ve already talked about loving, but it’s still not as commonly found in products as the other ingredients I mentioned. Luckily aside from Proactiv+ there are great products on the market – you just have to search them out. One example is Paula’s Choice Clear Regular Strength Daily Skin Clearing Treatment (on SkinStore.com for $18). It’s not only super light (like really really lightweight – be careful you don’t press too hard on the bottle because a little of this cream goes a long way since it’s so “liquid”), but it has no noticeable scent and won’t dry out your skin. In fact, it’s pretty moisturizing and you can apply it all over your face. I also love that you can buy a trial size on their site for just $6, but like I said benzoyl peroxide has worked wonder for my sensitive, breakout prone skin so I’d jump for the full size!
