Traditional iced coffee is made by pouring hot brewed coffee over ice. Cold brew (also known as “cold press” or “toddy coffee”), is brewed without heat over a long duration; it produces smoother, less acidic coffee making it ideal for those suffering from acid reflux or sensitive stomachs – or those who simply prefer something that tastes better! One of my favorite online retailers, Uncommon Goods, has a Cold Brew Set ($36) that comes with everything you need to make your very own cold brew at home. It’s not instant, but it’s very easy so just prep in advance and you’ll be good. All you do is add your favorite freshly ground coffee to the filter (this set comes with some to get you started), fill the mason jar with cold water, and allow the two to soak overnight in the refrigerator…voila!
I’m pretty lazy with kitchen-related stuff and even I have managed to do this, but if you don’t think you’ll be able to plan ahead there’s also some concentrate that you can buy that is fantastic called Grady’s Cold Brew Iced Coffee. Just mix the concentrate with water and ice and that’s it…you’ll never go back to regular iced coffee again:)
