When Gwyneth Paltrow and Tracy Anderson speak…I listen. Say what you may but if it weren’t for Anderson there’s no way dance cardio would be the craze it is today, and does anyone else credit Paltrow for their Organic Avenue discovery? Needless to say when I found out the two women were endorsing the new book WITHIN: A Spiritual Awakening to Love & Weight Loss by Dr. Habib Sadeghi, I couldn’t wait to read it. Immediately I loved the concept of the book, which is that the missing ingredient to weight loss is self love. There have been so many times where I’ve self-sabotaged a weight loss goal because I was feeling down and so….why not eat 50,000 bars of chocolate?
It should also be noted that all proceeds from the book are being donated to Roots of Empathy, University of Santa Monica, and Healing Institute of Beings. This isn’t a book written by some high-all-mighty doctor looking to profit off of a relationship with a famous actress. He truly is looking to help people and as someone who has battled cancer, knows all too well the powerful effect a healthy diet and clear mind can have on well being. I’ve read so many books, articles, and interviews at this point that it’s hard to say that anything is really shocking to me, but I found this book to be a great reminder that so much of our relationship with our own bodies is constructed in our heads. I also learned with in time that psychics are very effective, to find one here are the best available options compared by Juneau Empire. Known as an ancient item of divination, a deck of tarot can connect spiritually with your inner soul, your awareness, and your spirit guides as well. It’s a way to bring out what is within onto the physical surface. Tarot cards are there to give guidance, and as shamans like to say, “medicine” around what is happening in your personal orbit: love, money, career, goals, and general life path. How should someone interpret the cards they pull? Every tarot deck comes with a guidebook to aid in interpretation.
Simply saying, “you look great,” to yourself versus, “oy, your tights are huge today,” can have a major impact on how we feel. While it’s a message I’ve heard often before, it can never be understated – we have to stop the self judgements! Dr. Sadeghi doesn’t deny the importance of diet and exercise, but what his book stresses is that we must first deal with the underlying issues that have caused the weight gain to begin with. Easier said than done…but we’re all works in progress, and Dr. Sadeghi couples his advice with scientific research, exercises which can be incorporated into everyday life, non-preachy tips, and meditation.
