ThirdLove: Let This App Help You Find The Right Bra

307228v1

I’ve been collecting bras since my teenage years. I think it’s because my boobs have always been small. If I wasn’t wearing a cool bra, why bother wearing one at all? I have amassed hundreds of them – from Dolce & Gabbana and Moschino, to La Perla and Agent Provocateur, and I have them in countless patterns, colors, materials…and sizes. That’s right you’ll find everything from 32A to 34C in my closet because, frankly, I don’t care for the most part. If I like it enough, and it doesn’t come in my size, I’ll buy it anyway (in the same vein of being a size 7.5 in shoes, and having ones that range from 6.5 to 8 in my closet).

This is not good, and I know it but also for a long time didn’t know what my bra size actually was…32A? 34A? 32B? Who knows? Now a new app, ThirdLove, is poised to change that for many women just like me. Simply take two pictures of yourself in the mirror (No need to be naked or to take an awkward close-up of your chest! Just make sure you’re wearing form-fitting shirt and supportive bra) with your iPhone, and the app will help you find the right bra from their assortment of lingerie (bras are priced from $45 to $70, and panties are priced between $11 and $35). The app is said to measure your bust size with more accuracy than a human (there’s a Siri-like voice that guides you through the process).

Shopping for bras can be tedious, especially for non-fashion ones, and while admittedly this measuring with the iPhone is a bit tedious and worthy of skepticism, it worked! The bra I was matched up with fits, is comfortable, and flattering. The two downfalls are that you don’t find out your size after the measurement process is over (what gets their bras to fit so well is they design half cup sizes – i.e. there are sizes between A and B, for example) and that I don’t love their selection of styles. But their assortment is growing, and if you’re looking for basics, it’s hard to go wrong!
