Nina Ricci‘s brilliant wraparound clutch in smooth black recently stole my heart and found a place in my hands, but, as they say, on to the next one! A touch of snakeskin (genuine or not) changes everything: this is exactly what I look for in a clutch.
We already know this clean shape and sick little silhouette make for obvious ease and versatility, but it’s got a couple of high-impact details that make a statement – and that’s what makes it lust-worthy. The purposefully commanding flap and simple, uncluttered hardware are both exact. Without a hint of wavering or compromise, it boldly makes its point. While suede side paneling won me over on the black version, it’s almost easy to ignore here.
Is it because of the hue? Usually a quiet mushroom color such as this falls between a rock and a hard place, impossible to coordinate perfectly with any other color. But not in this case. Not only does the snake-effect body elevate it into a world of freedom, opening all wardrobe possibilities from bright color to all-black, it makes for a sudden sexy, sensual emphasis – that makes this clutch undeniably worthwhile. Pair with: Prove this clutch goes with just about anything by pairing it with Preen’s Magda pencil skirt. A collaged print of sheer graphic blocks and bouquets of florals takes white to the next level. On MATCHESFASHION.COM for $629.
