I’m a little obsessed with braids at the moment and there were so many on the runway. Rodarte‘s ready-to-wear collection was one of the more unfortunate ones I thought. It was inspired by L.A. and kind of a big hot mess. The hair however was fantastic! Working for John Frieda, Odile Gilbert created a “rocker princess with a cool, “undone” texture.” I’m sooo not a boho type…I’m super uptight and my hair usually reflects that because it more often than not is tightly cinched back, but I love the idea of a casual yet sophisticated braid like this for fall. Here’s a look at how it was created.
1. Before drying the hair, Odile applied dollops of Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Styling Mousse
2. After hair was blow dried, a 2-inch iron was used to create loose bends. Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Hairspray
3. Next, the waves were brushed out to make the texture look more natural, and braids on both sides were connected in the back of the head with a rose made of the models’ own hair.
4. To finish the look, a dime size of the Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Thermal Protection Formula
Rose aside, this is a pretty easy look to create on your own (the rose might require help from someone else…), and it strikes me as a mature take on a braid. What do you guys think? Would you wear your hair this way?
