Once summer starts, all of the bugs come out of hiding. If you don’t already have bites, it’ll be just a matter of minutes before you do! I’ve been dealing for it a while in Cali, but now that I’m traveling to Taiwan next week, I’m even more concerned. My blood must be delicious to bugs because they find me everywhere, even indoors. Seriously, stand by me and you’re basically guaranteed to walk away bite-free. Once I even resorted to using DEET when I visited an Audubon swamp (don’t even ask why I went to such a malaria cesspool). So I’m always trying out different bug sprays, preferably natural ones that won’t poison me.
Since I love (MALIN + GOETZ), I’m putting all of my hopes in their vegan repellant. So far, so good! I used it in Tuscany, and sent a bottle to my friend in Positano, who also managed to escape free of bites. Let’s just hope the Asian mosquitoes hate it as much as the Italian ones do! The spray’s herbal formula is composed of rosemary, citronella (this is what will really keep the bugs away), geranium, and lemongrass oils, as well as vitamin E and glycerin to soothe. The scent is a bit floral but lemony for the most part and very strong. I guess that’s the price you pay, right? It works for a few hours before you need to reapply. If you find after a couple of reapplications that it irritates your skin, do what I do with my tots and try spraying your clothes instead. Find what works or the bugs will find you! Available at (MALIN + GOETZ) for $20.
