If you squinted and expected to see studs on this bag, then you’re not alone. This has the faint feel of Valentino’s Rockstud motif, but look for more than a moment and you know it’s Michael Kors through and through. The bold, thick stitching is brilliant; it is everything on this bag. They give it a high level of character (just like studs), but you get a different kind of rugged vibe. Think less biker and more equestrian. Better yet, it’s unexpected.
The boxy structure is striking, yet the texture of soft leather relaxes it just a bit so it’s not totally rigid. That’s what makes the shape look so fantastic: it’s bulky in a good way and the size is just right (any bigger and it would look like you’re lugging a document box around town).
