I could say that I want to get these shoes in preparation for the Year of the Snake, but the truth is that I would invent pretty much any reason to wear them. They had me at the ankle cuff and the beguiling sneaker-like perforation. The style is just a little sporty, which is perfect for moto-chic Belstaff. With the irregular snakeskin pattern and the exposed wooden heel, they have you all geared up to go. I’m not sure how watersnake, perforated texture, a sleek wooden wedge, and biker buckles all work together so well, but they do, so embrace it (or rather, let the shoes embrace you!). There are working back zippers to help you get in and out with ease if those buckles look annoying (at least you know they’ll keep you snug) – they even add a striptease element. At 6″ the zippers emphasize the wedge’s height, but with a 2″ platform, this is really an easy 4″ shoe that you can do your best road warrior strut in. At Neiman Marcus for $1,495.
