There are few things as unappealing as putting on clothes that smell like sweat. I have an amazing Miele washing machine and even it leaves some of my sweaty hot yoga clothes in less than optimal olfactory condition unless I use something that packs major punch. I got a sample of Roux Maison Sport Detergent and was psyched to put it to the test. It’s the first detergent I’ve used that has been specifically designed for athletic clothing (and it’s eco-friendly too since it only uses natural ingredients and is highly concentrated!). This sport specific detergent is custom blended with 100% natural essential oils that are synthetic and preservative free. My workout wear is a mix of high performing fabrics and your everyday American Apparel cotton leggings/tees – Roux Maison tackles the sweaty odor of both equally well. It’s also been specifically formulated to maintain the elasticity of lycra, spandex and high performance fabrics so they won’t stretch unnecessarily or prematurely deteriorate. Also if you wear waterproof or moisture wicking clothes, these formulas have been designed to keep those in tact.
I tried this on pretty much all of my workout clothes – including ones so sweat drenched you might think I jumped into a pool – and they left all of them clean and refreshingly scented. The 16oz bottle retails for $16.99, which might seem steep but the formulations is so concentrated that you only need very little even for a full load (they say one bottle is good for 40 loads).
The formulation comes in Ambrosia, Sweet Tea, and Fragrance Free scents.
