I am usually not for an all in one anything. I like products to be specific to certain part of the body since our skin is so different all over. But this calming and restoring treatment oil ($68) is actually pretty nice for particular applications. You just have to learn which ones! After a week of dehydrating in the sun and trade winds of Hawaii, I returned home a bit chapped, feeling that I needed to replenish my skin (sun, wind, and salt water are wonderful for the soul, but not for the body!). Besides chamomile, this oil is also composed of vitamins E and C, so I knew it was up for the task of hydrating. And I love Malin+Goetz products, so the trust was there to try one oil for my entire body, hair included.
I took a nice long bath, and with my skin moist, I applied this oil all over. While it absorbed nicely, leaving my skin shiny and supple, it was very greasy. I love a slick body, but for the face, I found it to be too oily, so I kept rubbing it in (it isn’t fast-absorbing like it clams to be). It makes sense that this was developed as a facial oil because as I continued rubbing it in over the course of the evening, I began extracting residue from deep within my pores. It was like sand buried deep within the beach! The little bumps on my chin began to melt away. I was giving myself a facial! This is not an oil I would use to moisturize with on a daily basis, but it is plenty moisturizing.
As for hair, I needed to wash it out because I already have greasy hair. It was too much for me, but it did act like a restoring treatment and gave back much needed life and sheen to my windblown locks. I love this product for the body. I felt decadent using this oil all over. I’ll reserve it for when I really need it. All in all, a great product, but like I said, you have to check out how it works for you and use it accordingly.
