Some shoes don’t require a second thought. Of course, I bought these immediately. How often do you find gorgeous winter boots that are way practical? Winter boots have never been so cool, not even close. No surprise it’s Pollini by Nicholas Kirkwood (the one and only) who made the functional truly desirable. You get all the cold weather coverage you need, but it’s really all about the silver cap-toe.
A pop of bright silver is a brilliant counterpart to rugged toughness; the wavy, exaggerated lug sole is so amazing, even in non-slippery winter weather. And the soft calfskin upper keeps everything sleek (and comfy). Such smart slimness of design makes these easy to wear with feminine dresses, so there’s no compromising. Glamorous and guilt-free, I’ll be ready for whatever the frozen streets throw at me this season. On Luisa Via Roma for $757.
UPDATE: I just received these boots and I had to return them because they run really small, a whole size small. And the shoe is 100% rubber, even the upper, which was described as calfskin but it is NOT.
Pair with: Karl’s Onassis coat has enough patchwork fuzziness to appeal to that disco-worthy cap-toe, while leather-trimmed shearling will keep you toasty as you take on the streets. On Net-a-Porter for $2,900.
