When Maison Martin Margiela goes weird, they go really out there. And when they are good, they are perfect! I love, love, love this tote: the shape, the metal handles (the interior sides are coated in leather, so they don’t clink together and become annoying and scratched up), and, of course, the handle-indentation detail that’s been cut out into the face of the bag. With this smart recess, when you put it down, the handle goes right back in to place. Such an original detail that is not at all gimmicky. It looks subtly quirky, and it’s useful!
Even the sides have amazing detailing. The triangular piece at the bottom of the gusset has perfect seams and stitching; it’s the little things like that really excite me. The interior is lined with leather, so that makes it a bit heavy though the slim shape helps keep it pared down. The structure of this luxe camel tote makes it almost like a briefcase, just almost, and it still has enough edge to keep you sharp. On Net-a-Porter for $1,795.
LOVE THIS! It looks like a big piece of toast!
