I am extremely particular about my fragrances. So much so, it has been five years since I’ve used one regularly. For special occasions, yes, but one I wear at all times? I don’t think I’ve loved any scent that much since I was an impressionable teenager. During both of my pregnancies, any and every perfume was offensive to me. After I had my babies, I was more tolerant, but that’s when I found myself super-particular about any scents I use.
I’m not a big fan of florals, especially powdery and sweet types. You’d think a rose-based scent would turn me off, but while shopping at Hermès last week, well, let’s just say the East Coast’s high, humid temperatures had left me less than shower-fresh, so I tried this on…and fell in love. Not just for that day, when I really needed something, anything! I took home samples (my lovely SA gave me, like, 10), so I’ve been using Rose Ikebana daily, keeping it on me at all times, and I’ve been loving it more by the minute.
It is very light, with an almost minty undertone, making it crisp and refreshing. The floral notes aren’t your grandma’s rose scent. This is airy and eerily true to the nature of a real, freshly picked rose. I also have Vétiver Tonka, which I love because it’s not at all floral; it’s a heavy scent, and most days I’m not in the mood for something so powerful. Rose Ikebana, on the other hand, is comforting. It gets better throughout the day, and I can’t see myself getting tired of it…EVER!
At Hermès for $235 for a full size 3.3 oz bottle or set of 4 purse sized .5 oz sprays for $145. (You can custom choose the four purse sized sprays.)
