If what I’m seeing so far is any indication, the black ankle boot is in for a world of refreshment come Fall 2012. First, I was taken with Giuseppe Zanotti’s ribbon-effect platforms, now it’s Yves Saint Laurent that’s revealing major innovation when it comes to an oft-boring closet staple.
Speaking to tomboys (the serrated rubber sole makes for tough stuff) and glamazons (these six-inchers will extend your legs to shocking lengths, especially if you pair these with slinky jeans or a long-sleeve mini-dress) alike, it’s almost like getting two pairs of boots in one. Literally! Half-suede and half-leather – with juxtaposing hardware at the laces – these bring on the intrigue without failing to be irresistibly simple.
