It’s always exciting when a designer can prove me wrong by making me love something I have sworn off. I do not like clear bags. And for that matter, Phillip Lim’s Pashli satchel is just okay. It’s interesting enough to make for good editorial, but I would never get it…But never say never. This I totally want!
I don’t know what it is, and that’s always the case when it comes to emotional lust. Let me try to dissect my desire. A combination of clear and opaque white has a Philippe Stark-inspired modernist feel that’s super-crisp and fresh. While the Pashli seems crowded in leather, the somewhat overwhelming elements of panels, straps, and zippers enhance (rather than distract) this clear bag. The opaque section is just enough to offer a private sense of mystery, instead of your typical fishbowl feel. What can I say? It just looks cool. Everything about it. There’s also a mini-Pashli with clear and black, but it doesn’t pack the space-age impact of white. On ShopBop
