Reed Krakoff Standard Mini Patent-Leather Shoulder Bag: Reed Comes to Light

It seems like someone at Reed Krakoff is hearing the complaints of their overly cumbersome bags. I was recently musing over the Uniform Satchel for being a huge improvement in the way of convenience. Now the Standard Mini sets a new standard on the brand’s once-intimidating size.

With that cool foldover-tab closure, this petite shoulder still has the stamp of the brand – just scaled down to a most appealing proportion. In watersnake and leather, it makes for a nice addition at a lady’s side, but this liquid-y patent version vibes with a sportiness I can’t get enough of. Where has patent been? For a moment, it was considered a regular on the texture scene, but then it disappeared for a bit. Matte’s been in and you know what that means…sheen is poised to make a comeback.

When Reed says pack light, he means it. The only issue I see here: patent is rigid and thick, so this bag will not hold much. There is absolutely no give, although I’m willing to give up a few necessities to carry it. On Net-a-Porter for $590.

Pair with: Shine needs matte and vice versa. Counter the gloss with a shot of snakeskin, via Giuseppe Zanotti’s python gladiator sandal. At Barneys New York for $550.
