I just like a little pop of bright yellow. Honestly, a cashmere-knit bag makes no sense to me. I suppose cashmere is still cheaper than perforated or woven leather, so for the effect it serves a purpose. Although, perhaps simple wool would do – I demand cozy cashmere for my big sweaters, not my top-handle bags!
In the brand’s classic crafty spirit, the handle is macramé, like a child’s art project. But it’s Marni, so it works (I can’t even picture another house being brave enough to attempt pulling this off). The handle actually accounts for the majority of the bag’s appeal: cute in a sophisticated way, this is satisfying to the little girl in all of us who refuses to give up her love of cutsie. And you know I have major love for this Marni shape – the mutated frame-top – so give it to me in leather and I will gladly make it mine. On Net-a-Porter for $810.
Pair with: Contrast the handle with a striking motorcycle jacket (no more knits, please!). Iro’s Anabela, in bright cobalt leather, has pop to spare. On Ssense for $1,475.
