I sooooo wish the formulation of these eye pens didn’t irritate my eyes because the colors are so fantastic. I was able to check-out three of the new Ellis Faas creamy eye shades ($36) and they’re awe-inducing – the colors are incredibly wearable, yet totally original and I have yet to wear one of the shades and not get asked what brand I’m wearing. The collection includes: Navy Blue (E113), Bordeaux Red (E114), Purple (E115), Lilac (E116), Mint Green (E117), Light Blue (E118), and Yellow Ochre (E119). What’s great about the new collection is that aside from including a unique, but wearable color selection, the shades are highly pigmented but the coverage is build-able (as long as you have patience – trust, don’t turn the pen too fast. It takes a number of clicks for the product to dispense, but if you turn too fast you’ll find a splatter of eye product suddenly dripping from the pen tip). Better yet, the color dries in an instant and lasts all-night (possibly forever…seriously…).
Unfortunately the strong-hold formulation may be why it seems that my eyes get a little irritated/red when I take the shadow off. It’s nothing too bad, but it’s uncomfortable enough that I would not use one of the pens day-to-day. A little redness is definitely worth it however on a special occasion because I have yet to come across a brand that can make my eyes pop the way that Faas’ eye pens do (creamy, milky, as well as her light shades). I should also mention that as long as you work fast, the texture of the product makes the shades very blendable.
I find that anything with a purple tone to it causes my eyelids to itch. Someone told me it’s because of the red dyes they have to use to make the hue. I have one of these, and it doesnt’ bother me, tho. Just lucky, i guess.
