Most of us buy polishes based on color, price, formulation (i.e. we know it’s long lasting, it’s organic etc.), or some combination of the three. My decision is usually 99% color, but when I read about Dermelect Cosmeceuticals’ ME Peptide-Infused Color Nail Treatment ($14), a peptide-rich cream color collection designed to infuse nails with nutrients, I couldn’t have been more intrigued! While the color selection may not be stellar given that there are only six shades to choose from, they’ve got the basics covered with a red, hot pink, neutral, and a more adventurous blue. The real draw with these polishes is that they’re formulated with a manicure extending formula utilizing protein-peptide, ProSina, a pure protein extracted from New Zealand sheep’s wool. Apparently it’s a material similar to bones and fingernails and will thus not only ensure a longer lasting mani/pedi (one week-plus they claim), but will help your nails grow back stronger.
The formula is also green (DBP, Toulene and Formaldehyde-free), water and detergent resistant, and protects against UV rays….who knew our nails needed UV protection – hey it can’t hurt!? Like most polishes, Dermelect suggests two coats and based on the reviews I’ve read their polishes dry quickly and are, true to their claims, fairly chip-resistant.
Anti-aging nail care may sound a little bit gimmicky, but with nothing to loose and everything to gain, I say, sign me up!
