I was so excited to try this new fragrance by Serge Lutens. Since my first pregnancy, I have had an aversion to most perfumes. But I have always loved scents by Serge – they are not so syrupy thick, overpowering, and in-your-face, which has generally been my major complaint. I have never liked musk in any perfume and L’eau Froide is probably as far as you can get from that. It infuses mint (not that stinging snap of toothpaste peppermint) in all its freshness with floral overtones. It evokes the pure essence of the mint leaf – light and crisp. Reminiscent of a perfect sunny, spring morning when it is a bit chilly outside, this eau de parfum is softly invigorating. It wafts of blooming flowers that entice you to take a deep, long breath. And even though it is very light, the perfume masters at Serge Lutens have insured that it lasts all day. It’s wonderful to start the morning with L’eau Froide’s invigorating freshness, and yet keep that elusive, delicately fresh feel all day. At Barneys New York for $150.
